The
Hibernian Society’s aim is to improve the quality
of life for the elderly members of the Irish Community.
The
charity currently has a lunch club on Monday, Wednesday
and Friday, this has an average attendance of 50 people
who regularly enjoy the great food, company, music
and the craic!
They also enjoy visits from special guests such
as Daniel O’Donnell and Val Doonican as well
as local musicians and entertainers.
In
addition to their tri weekly gatherings, in 2006 the
lunch club went on an afternoons river cruise down
the Thames. In December 2006 the Society went
to Windsor to see the panto Snow White and the Seven
Dwarfs. In january 2007 the 'Hibernian Players' put
on their own panto 'Robin Hood'. The cast was taken
entirley from Lunch Club Members and was a great success
and enjoyed by all. Since this was written the Hibernian
Lunch Club has continued to expand with many more
